BCI Group Joins UN International Climate Action Initiative on Digital Ecological Civilization

During a side event titled “Digital Empowerment for Ecological Civilization – Enhancing Public Participation in Climate Action” hosted by the UNFCCC Secretariat, a representative of BCI Group shared the company’s industrial practice of building a Super Energy Complex in China to decarbonize computing infrastructure. The representative also reaffirmed BCI Group’s phased carbon reduction targets:
- Achieve 100% renewable energy across all global operating campuses by 2030;
- Achieve 100% renewable energy across its global supply chain by 2040.
These practices will be included in the International Climate Action Initiative on Digital Ecological Civilization advocated by the UNFCCC Secretariat. BCI Group will publicly disclose its climate actions, including targets, commitments, and progress, to the UNFCCC Secretariat on an annual basis.
During a bilateral dialogue with The Climate Group, Ms. Helen Clarkson, Global Chief Executive of The Climate Group, presented the official appointment letter to Mr. Ju Jing as Global Advisor for Cross-System Energy Transition. The two sides agreed to jointly promote the green transition of cross-system sectors such as computing power and energy worldwide.
At a side event focused on “Accelerating Energy Transition in Asia” organized by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the International Climate and Environment Research Centre (CICERO), BCI Group shared its insights on Asia’s energy transition and expressed readiness to strengthen cooperation with all parties on green computing, energy transition, and climate change to jointly advance the process of energy transition across Asia.
Official Chinese and international climate representatives attended the above events, including:
- Mr. Xie Zhenhua, Special Envoy for Climate Change of China;
- Mr. Hanan Sakr, Director of the Office of the UAE Climate Change Envoy;
- Mr. Todd Edwards, Head of Global Climate Action at the UNFCCC Secretariat.
