Recently, BCI Group’s 180MW centralized wind power project in Lingqiu, China officially broke ground and is scheduled to be connected to the grid by the end of 2024.
In parallel, a 100MW/200MWh energy storage project is under active construction, which will further integrate renewable energy generation profiles with peak and valley demand, and improve the efficiency of renewable energy utilization.
Once fully operational in its complete “wind-solar-storage” configuration, the project is expected to supply approximately 800 million kWh of clean electricity annually to computing infrastructure such as the Super Energy Complex.
It will support the 100% carbon neutrality of new computing infrastructure including the 100,000‑card‑level intelligent computing cluster.
The project will save about 267,000 tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 475,300 tons each year.
As an important traditional industrial base and comprehensive transformation pilot zone for resource-based regions in China, Datong has, in recent years, leveraged its strengths in energy, location, climate and industrial conditions. It has taken the digital economy as the core engine and key focus of its transformation and development, with a focus on building the Datong Cluster of the Shanxi Hub under the national “East Data, West Computing” strategy. The city has vigorously promoted the development of industrial clusters upstream and downstream of the digital economy centered on computing infrastructure, and has grown into an important hub for computing infrastructure in northern China.
As a chain-leading enterprise of the computing infrastructure industry incubated and developed locally in Datong with a global vision, BCI Group has fully leveraged its integrated energy advantages. It has taken the lead in iterating new-type infrastructure through the “Energy + Computing Power” model to empower the computing infrastructure industry, transforming Datong’s strengths in green energy and industrial foundation into competitive advantages in the emerging computing sector.
Centered on Advanced Energy, Advanced Equipment, Advanced Computing Power and Advanced Network, BCI Group has achieved in-depth vertical integration of the industrial chain covering “Energy – Computing Power – Equipment – Network”. By establishing, strengthening, supplementing and extending the industrial chain, the company has ultimately formed a new-generation infrastructure industrial cluster that integrates Datong’s diverse strengths in energy, resources, industry and talent.
At present:
In Advanced Energy: the supporting renewable energy centralized power generation bases of the Qinyun Basic Lingqiu and Guangling Super Energy Complexes have been connected to the grid.
In Advanced Computing Power: Phase I of the Lingqiu Super Energy Complex has been capped and is scheduled to commence operation within this year.
In Advanced Equipment: Datong’s first server factory invested by BCI Group is cooperating with leading domestic server enterprises to establish advanced computing server production capacity in Datong.
Meanwhile, Qinyun Basic has incubated and launched industrial capacities in Datong for high-end computing infrastructure equipment such as prefabricated construction, electromechanical systems and temperature control technologies, actively fulfilling its responsibility as a chain-leading enterprise for Datong’s computing infrastructure industry.
